INTRODUCTION
Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) also known as Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease – AHPND was recorded for the first time in 2009 in China. The disease appeared in Vietnam in 2010 on black tiger shrimp and vannamei shrimp. The bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus was identified as the main causative agent of the disease. Infected shrimp often have soft shells, empty stomachs, and a shrunken and pale hepatopancreas. Besides, the disease can cause premature death in shrimp within 35 days after stocking. Therefore, early detection of pathogens is essential to take measures to limit damage caused by the disease.
TopSPEC® Air-Dryable EMS/AHPND qPCR Kit is a test kit that detects the presence of EMS/AHPND (PirA/B gene) on shrimp samples using Real-time PCR technique. The kit helps detect pathogens present in the farming environment early and quickly. In addition, with the use of dry mix technology, the kit can be stored at cool temperatures, convenient for direct on-site testing, saving time and effort in transporting samples to the laboratory.
