INTRODUCTION
Helicobacter pylori is gram-negative spiral-shaped bacterium that resides in the human stomach. This bacterium is a common pathogen that damages the gastric mucosa, leading to gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as stomach cancer – one of the serious gastrointestinal diseases. Therefore, early diagnostic testing is extremely crucial for better disease management.
TopSENSI ® Urease Test Kit is designed to detect H. pylori in the stomach from endoscopic biopsy samples. The kit relies on the fact that H. pylori secretes a significant amount of urease enzyme during its activity, leading to the breakdown of urea into ammonia, which makes the environment alkaline. This change in pH causes the urea-indole solution to change color from yellow to purple.
