Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum (TP). In the early stage, the disease is asymptomatic, but if not detected and diagnosed promptly, it can lead to severe consequences when progressing to the symptomatic stage. The disease can result in serious complications affecting the nervous system, skin, eyes, and mucous membranes if not timely identified.
